When Baby Brother Sleeps

John Turner is a very good big brother. Since school is now out for summer, John Turner is home with us all morning.  He spends a lot of time playing with Judson. He tries to play with things that he thinks Judson will like. He teaches him how to play with the trains on the train table, how to build tall towers with the blocks(which he only likes to knock down), how to cook in the play kitchen and how to sing and dance with the radio. He is very patient and understanding with him!

Judson still takes a morning nap. When he goes down for his morning nap I get at least an hour or more of one on one time with my big boy! I treasure this time with him! Here are a few things we enjoy doing together while baby brother sleeps.

We usually spend some time reading our new library books that we have recently checked out. I love to have him all snuggled up in my lap exploring new books or reading some of our favorites!

I try to get some learning time in too! We practice counting, alphabet sounds, spelling words and writing his name. He is not doing too bad with his name for a three year old! Plus it is a really long name!

We usually have some art time as well. John Turner is very much into painting at the moment. On this day he painted a picture of a sun, a tree and some clouds. We also get the play dough out very often! The boys also LOVES some glitter! I try to avoid glitter art as much as possible! HA HA!

We also enjoy doing puzzles together. I enjoy so much watching his little brain work while he is putting together a puzzle!

And some days, we just sit outside and chill with a cold drink and enjoy the peace and quiet!!

And then some days, even big brother likes to snuggle up and take a rest in the mornings!

Little Fisherman

John Turner received his very own fishing pole from his Gigi and Papaw Ben this past Easter. It is a "Cars" fishing pole. He has really had no interest in it up until a few weeks ago. Carlton was home one Saturday and he got it out and proceeded to show John Turner how to use it. Well...that boy learned how to cast that rod and reel after practicing the ENTIRE weekend.

These pics were taken early that Sunday morning. Carlton had gotten up to go and get Judson out of his bed around 6:30 that morning. As he passed by the back yard windows this is what he found! This boy was "fishing" at 6:30 in the morning!!

We decided that he was getting so good at pretend fishing that he needed to go try out the real thing. We took him over to the pond across from Carlton's hunting camp house. This was his big catch of the day! He caught it on his little "Cars" fishing pole. Reeled him in all by himself! He was so proud and so was Daddy! I do believe Daddy is going to have himself a fishing partner!

Swim Lessons

My sweet big boy just finished up his week of swim lessons today. He took from Mrs. Liz and Mrs. Tiffany again this year. He did so well this year! I was amazed at what a difference a year makes! Last year he was so scared for me to leave him there. This year he took his shoes off, sat down and put his feet in the pool and said "See ya later, Mommy!" He also cried last year when he had to put his face in the water. Not this year! He was such a brave boy and I am so proud of him!
John Turner's lessons started at 9:00 each morning and lasted for an hour. The house where he took lessons is a fabulous neighborhood in which to walk. So each morning after we dropped John Turner off, I would load Judson up in the jogging stroller and off we would go for the hour. I have really enjoyed having that hour to walk each morning. I will miss it!

Judson usually naps around 9:00 each morning so he used the hour of walking for his morning nap. It worked out perfectly!

Here is my big boy in the pool! It was a group class made up of five 3 year old boys. They were precious!

They got to enjoy Popsicles today on their last day. This is the face I got from my crazy boy!

After his last lesson, he decided that he could use a little Chick-fil-a to celebrate. I thought that sounded great!

And so did baby brother!!

Wake Up!

The other morning I woke up to the sounds of little boy giggles. It was such a sweet sound to wake up to. After checking the monitor, I immediately got my camera to document this sweet moment. I just love watching these two boys grow up together. They already love each other so very much! It is an amazing thing to see!
John Turner told me that heard brother up talking and he thought he should go in and check on him and make sure he was okay! SWEET!!

Fresh Veggies

Judson is a completely opposite type of eater than his brother was at this age! John Turner has ALWAYS been picky, picky! Judson will eat anything you put in front of him! He has started having tastes of real food and baby food is out of the picture now! He wants the real stuff! John Turner would never, and still won't, eat anything green! My mom brought fresh veggies from their garden to me last week. I cooked the Green beans and Judson couldn't get enough of them! He also ate some fresh squash. What did my picky one eat while we had all of this yummy fresh food? Dinosaur chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese!!!!

Driving around the Grocery Store

John Turner has been begging for weeks to let Judson ride with him in the car buggy at Winn-Dixie. John Turner thinks it is the coolest way to shop! Well, the last few times we have gone to the grocery store all of the car buggies have been taken. Last Saturday we got lucky and found one that was open! Judson just had a ball riding in that car buggy!

Can you tell that John Turner was over the grocery shopping at this point? Judson was still excited to be driving!

Farmers' Market

Our town has started having a really fun event downtown at the train station the first Saturday of every month. There is a big farmers' market set up, along with many other vendors selling different homemade items. There is also live music at the event. We decided to go try it out last Saturday morning. We just had the best time! The boys enjoyed it so much! We brought home fresh corn, peanuts and peaches. John Turner's favorite part of the day was the fresh lemonade he had! We will spend many Saturday morning downtown at this event!
