Jackson Zoo

My sister and I decided to take the kids over to Jackson this week to visit the zoo there.

There wasn't very many animals to see there. These were some of their favorites.

Of course Gran went along for the trip!

Carly and John Turner loved watching the animals!

One of their favorite parts of the zoo was this cave! They would have stayed in there all day if we would have let them!

I had to put John Turner in his stroller so that he would take a picture with me!

We had a great time! All three kids were very well behaved which always makes for a nice trip! We plan to visit more zoos around us this summer!

20 Months Old

John Turner --20 Months Old

I can't belive that John Turner is only 4 months away from being a two-year old! Time does fly when you are having fun!!

At 20 months old, John Turner spends his days outside. And I mean spends his WHOLE day(except for nap) outside! We spend most days doing the following:

  • going on wagon rides
  • driving his car around the neighborhood and blowing his car's horn at people and talking to people we see
  • drawing with his sidewalk chalk
  • blowing bubbles
  • digging in his sandbox
  • going for morning walks in the stroller(he must have a cup of water, a snack cup and his radio before he gets in his stroller)
  • collecting rocks
  • running, skipping, marching or hopping up the sidewalk
  • walking up to our neighbor's doors and saying "knock, knock" and trying to open their doors to go in for a visit. Good thing he is welcome at all of our neighbors' houses!
  • watching the birds and calling "tweet, tweet" at them

He is saying a lot of words and phrases these days! His little toddler voice is so cute!! These are a few cute things he is saying at 20 months that I want to remember.
  • He calls himself "Turner" when asked his name.
  • If he is asked, "Where is John Turner?" He replys with "right here"
  • If I am doing something he wants to do he says "I do it"
  • If he can't do something he wants to do he says "help, help"
  • After prayers at night when we lay him in his bed and say goodnight, he says "night night amen"
  • If you ask him if he is ready to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner he says "eat cookie". Yes, he wants cookies for every meal!
  • He puts on his sunglasses and says "cool"
  • When asked what an elephant says he says "roll tide"

  • Favorite songs to sing right now are "Jesus Loves Me", "Row Row Row Your Boat" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"
  • When he sees the alphabet in a book or on a picture he starts "saying" his ABCs. They are in very random order and he only says a few of them. Usually he says b,e,a,i,o.
  • He points to things and counts them when you ask him how many there are. He usually only makes it up to two though.
  • He loves to play "Ring Around the Rosies". He thinks it's hilarious when I fall down at the end!
  • He can recognize many of his colors now. He is very good with blue, purple, red, green and yellow.
  • He is getting better at getting himself dressed and undressed.

He is just at such a precious age that I could write about stuff he does for hours! He definately brings joy to our lives every day!

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day I am reminded of many things in my life for which I am thankful.

I am thankful for our mothers. God blessed Carlton and I both with some amazing mothers! I am thankful that John Turner has these three amazing women as grandmothers! I am thankful for how much they truly love John Turner and how much he truly loves them!

We began our Mother's Day celebration on Wednesday night. This was MeMe Carol's night! We took her to her favorite place to eat, The Crescent City Grill. We love you so much, MeMe!

Saturday night was GiGi's night! We had her over to our house for an afternoon of playing outside and eating dinner with us. We love you so much, GiGi!

Sunday was Gran's day. We took Gran out for lunch and then came back to our house to play outside. We love you so much, Gran!

I am most thankful for all of the blessings and joys of motherhood! I am thankful for my precious, handsome little boy. I am thankful that I get to spend every day with him. I am thankful for the big hugs and kisses that he gives me. I am thankful for his adorable smile, his contagious laughter, his joyous personality, and his sweet spirit! It is truly a blessing to be his mother!

I love you so much, John Turner!!!

Brooks' Baby Dedication

Carlton, John Turner and I traveled to Alabama last Sunday to attend our nephew Brooks' baby dedication ceremony. It was such a special event. We were so glad we could take part in it. Brooks wore the same smocked romper that John Turner wore for his baby dedication last year.

My sister and her beautiful family (minus Carly)

Brooks was so great during the service! He just smiled and bounced around!

We all went out for lunch after the ceremony. John Turner and Carly are always so excited to be able to spend time with Gran and Grandpa!

Brooks with his "Sissy"

We tried ALL DAY to get a good picture of the three kids together. As you can see we never did!
