Santa Came To Town!

We had a FABULOUS Christmas! Seeing the joy and excitement on John Turner's face made Christmas more fun than ever before!

The Watts- Christmas Morning 2009

The Watts(including Oliver)- Christmas 2009

Santa was VERY good to our family this year! John Turner got some great new things! He got an Elmo Live, his very own chair to watch TV in, a bounce and spin pony, a shopping cart and groceries, movies, a basketball goal, a puppy, books, puzzles, and a Mr. Potato Head.

Click the collages to enlarge them

John Turner's stocking was also filled with some wonderful goodies--movies, books, an Elmo toothbrush, new sippy cup with a straw, and some pjs.

We couldn't leave Oliver out on Christmas so we filled his stocking with some goodies too!

Gran and Grandpa and Uncle Chris, Aunt HaHa, Car-Car & Brooks came and brought presents on Christmas morning too! He got a really cool activity block from Car-Car and Broooks. Gran and Grandpa give him his first pair of Nikes. He will be stylin' when he wears them! They also gave him an Alaphabet Train! Of course Gran and Grandpa had also filled a stocking with goodies for him!

John Turner has played with his new toys so much over the past few days! These are some pictures of took of him Sunday when we got home from church.

This is John Turner enjoying one of his new Elmo movies in his new chair!

15 Months

John Turner is now 15 months old! It makes me a little sad to say that! He is growing up way too fast for me! He is running around and learning new things every day! He amazes us each day with something new that he has learned. He is still just a happy little monkey most of the time! He hardly ever fusses! I feel so lucky about that! He is a very loving little thing! He runs up and gives us hugs and kisses all of the time.

He is still a wonderful sleeper! He is still sleeping about 12 hours each night. He goes to bed around 8:00 and wakes up around 8:00. We have recently weaned him from his morning nap. He now takes only one nap a day. He usally goes down around 1:30 or 2:00. He naps for about 2 hours.

John Turner weighs 20 pounds and 9 ounces(only in the 5 percentile in weight!! SKINNY!!). He is 30 1/2 inches long. All of his pants just fall right off of his skinny little booty!!
He is not a good eater! It is hard for us to get him to eat anything! He will not touch any meat or vegetables! He loves fruits, breads, yogurt, cheese, desserts, and any breakfast food you will give him! We are going to keep working on getting him to eat more! He has recently decided drinking everything out of a straw is the best way! He loves when we go out to eat and he can drink out of our straws!

He loves Elmo!!! I mean he really loves Elmo!! We have to watch Sesame Street every morning! We record it if we are out and watch it later in the day. He will either sit on his car or in my lap and watch the entire hour of Sesame Street. He gets very excited and runs up to the TV and dances and stomps his feet when Elmo's World begins. It is so funny and cute!! He also like to watch The Wonder Pets. Since he has finally gotten to turn foward facing in his carseat he is able to watch the TV in our car. As soon as he gets in his seat he says "moo"(movie) or "Elmo" and points to the TV.

He still enjoys reading books. He now likes to take the books and open them and pretend he is reading them. His favorite books right now are any books with a picture of "Ho Ho"(Santa Clause) , a book about colors( he like the page about purple--he turns to it and says "purple"--he will also say blue), and a book about dogs("pup pup" is what he calls them).

John Turner is in the process of getting his one year molars. He is drooling like he did when he was 5 months old! We can see those big teeth starting to come through! OUCH!! He doesn't want us to brush his teeth. He wants to do it all by himself. He likes to sit in his sink at night to brush them.
He can't point to most of his body parts. He loves finding ours more than finding his own! Belly buttons are his favorite to find!! He also loves making animal sounds. His favorites are the sheep, cow, snake, bee and duck.

I find him standing on his head all of the time now! He thinks it is so funny to look through his legs and say "boo". He just giggles and giggles when he does it!

He is also a very good climber. He has gotten very brave with is climbing. I have to really watch him!

He loves singing and dancing. He is getting Kindermusik classes for Christmas. He will start in January and we know he will love it!

He is quite the entertainer. When he is around strangers and they talk to him he just grins and waves and walks over to them. He wants people to laugh at him and pay attention to him--but he does not want anyone to touch him! He is all friendly and enteraining until they try to touch him or pick him up--that causes a major breakdown!

I was trying to pack up his baby toys in this tub to make room for what Santa is bringing. You see how much help he was!

John Turner has developed quite the vocabulary lately! I just love hearing him say new words each day. I have lost track of all of the words he knows. Here are a few of his favorite words lately:

  • "go-go"-first thing he says when we wake up in the morning--he doesn't care where we are going he just wants to go somewhere!
  • Momma, Dada, Papaw, Ha-Ha(Aunt Holly), Car-Car(Cousin Carly), Baby Books(Cousin Brooks), Ah-Ah(Oliver Cat) He won't say Gran yet and it is killing my mom!!
  • purple, blue
  • night-night
  • knee, eye
  • bath
  • book
  • pup-pup(dog)
  • milk
  • cup
  • Elmo
  • boo
  • bow
  • ball
  • cookie
  • moo(movie)
  • and a ton of other words we can't understand!!

Annual Christmas Cookie Baking

We went to my parents' house this week for our annual Christmas cookie baking and decorating. My mom, sister, and I have done this each year at Christmas since my sister and I were little girls. We have decided to carry on this tradition with our children. This year John Turner was able to participate in the cookie cutting. He didn't really care too much for any of it except for eating the cookies once we were finished. Just like a boy!!

The finished product...

My sister and I always made stockings with our names on them every year. This year we just made them with our children's names.

Here is my sweet nephew, Brooks(Baby Books-as John Turner calls him). Next year he will be able to help us with the cookies. It is hard to believe that last year when we made cookies John Turner was this age! Time flies!!

The Nativity

I have always wanted to have a beautiful nativity scene to put out for Christmas. I have never bought myself one though. Well, my sweet MIL surprised me with one this year! I LOVE it! It is the Willow Tree collection and it is simply beautiful!
John Turner has been trying his hardest to get some of the pieces from the nativity since the day I put it out! So.......

I ordered him his own nativity set! Isn't it adorable! He LOVES it! His favorite pieces are the baby Jesus, the sheep and the cow. He walks around saying "baa baa" if he has the sheep and "moo moo" if he has the cow. He likes for us to read him the book Christmas in the Manger and help him find the pieces that coordinate with the story. And this is what happens to baby Jesus most of the time....

See why I bought him his own nativity set!!
POOR BABY JESUS!

HO, HO, HO!

For the last couple of weeks John Turner has been walking around the house holding a book that has a picture of Santa in it and saying HO, HO, HO. We decided to take him to see Santa in person today. We wondered if he would like him as much in person. Well, he actually did. He walked up to Santa all by himself! He acted like such a big boy! Santa read him a book and he had a great time!

Gingerbread House

I decided to buy a gingerbread house kit to do with John Turner and Carly this week. Even though our house isn't the cutest, we had so much fun building it!! Carly and John Turner were way more interested in licking off the icing and eating the candy pieces than they were in building the house! Carlton even got home from work in time to help us build our house!

Carly helping us build the house

The house is built(although our roof fell off about a million times!)

OOH! CANDY!!

This is so much fun!!

Can I just eat all of this candy?

Our finished house! Isn't it lovely?

Meet Elvin!

This is Elvin! He is John Turner's very own elf! When we awoke this morning we found Elvin sitting on our mantle. Santa also sent us a book that tells us all about Elvin. We found out that he sent Elvin here all the way from the North Pole to watch over John Turner until Christmas. He will report to Santa each night about how John Turner has been behaving. He will have to leave us on Christmas Eve, but he will return every year at this time! We are happy to welcome Elvin into our family!

Thanksgiving in Needham

We began our Thanksgiving holiday by traveling to Needham on Sunday to celebrate with my dad's side of the family. My grandmother(known as GranDottie to John Turner) prepared a delicious meal and we had a wonderful time visiting with family. My grandfather even got to leave the nursing home for the day and eat dinner with us.

Halloween

We had a wonderful Halloween! Our little scarecrow had the time of his life! He seemed to enjoy being dressed up! We couldn't believe that he left his hat on the whole night! My parents and my sister and her family came over to spend Halloween with us. Our neighborhood is VERY BUSY on Halloween night so we put Carly and John Turner in the wagon, which made for a much better trip around the neighborhood. John Turner just talked and talked all night as we trick or treated. We don't know what he was saying, but he seemed to be having a blast! His favorite thing to do was to dig pieces of chocolate out of his pumpkin and try to eat through the paper to get to the chocolate! He did end up getting a package of M & M's opened! LOL! He was so hyped up that he stayed up until after 9:00 last night! That is VERY unusual for our little scarecrow! Here are a few pictures that show how we spent our Halloween!
