Potty Training Boot Camp Day 3: The Final Day

Potty training boot camp officially ended tonight when John Turner went to bed. It was a long, tiring but very succesful process for us! We are proud to report that John Turner had ZERO accidents today!! HOORAY! We celebrated with warm chocolate chip cookies and John Turner's favorite juice!

Barney has been with us through this entire process so he deserved a little treat too! :-)

We are so impressed with the progress John Turner made over these past three days. We still have work to do on the poo-pooing in the potty and the naptime and nightime training. But, we feel that he is on his way to being fully daytime tee-tee trained! We are so proud of our big boy!! Now, what can we do with that extra money we have been spending on diapers each month?

I promise that my next blog post will not mention the words tee-tee or poo-poo:-)

Potty Training Boot Camp Day 2

Well, we made through day number two of potty training boot camp! I can happily say that I have less dirty underwear to wash up tonight than I did last night...so I consider that to be a successful day! John Turner is doing very well at telling me when he has to tee-tee now. The poo-pooing is a different story. We still have a lot of work to do when it comes to that. This is a tiring process, but I must say that I have enjoyed this close one on one time with my baby boy! We have no choice but to be side by side all day! I am going to bed and praying that I can say that he is pretty much potty trained when I post about day three tomorrow night!

Potty Training Boot Camp Day 1

John Turner has been showing signs of potty training readiness for a while now. He has been tee-teeing on the potty some at home and has tee-teed on the potty at school once. I have been just kind of ignoring the signs thinking he is too young to potty train. Well, things changed when my friend gave me a copy of "Three Day Potty Training" last week. I read this guide and it just made so much sense to me! The author said that 22-24 months was the ideal age in which to potty train. So...

We woke up first thing this morning and threw away all of the diapers in our house!

This program is like a boot camp for potty training! You must block out three full days on your calendar to devote to potty training. You don't leave the house at all for three whole days. You must devote every waking minute to watching your child and talking to them about being dry, tee-teeing, poo-pooing, etc... I never thought I would say the words tee-tee and poo-poo so many times in one day!

I must say that I just loved watching his cute little booty running around in his big boy underwear all day!

We had some accidents, but we also had many celebrations. He just loved being about to put his stickers on his potty chart:-)

I have to say that today has completely worn me out! I am going to wash up dirty underwear and get ready for boot camp day 2!

Wordless Wednesday

First Day Of School

This sweet big boy went to school this morning for the first time. He is going to be attending the morning program at our church two days each week. We like that it is at our church and that many of his friends from church are in his class with him. We know that the social interaction and the structure of the day will be great for him since he is about to turn two.

Now, I have known that this day was coming for quite a while. I even worked out his first school day on a day when Carlton was going to be off of work so that I would have moral support for the first drop off! We had to wake him up at 7:30 so that he would have time to get ready and eat breakfast. He is used to sleeping until 8:00 or 8:30 so this was hard for him. Once he got up and had his breakfast he was ready to go! We have been talking about school all month! He was excited all the way there. He kept saying "school" and "see Harper" all the way there. His best friend in the whole world, Harper is in his class.

When we got to school he still seemed very excited and just kept looking for Harper. We got to his classroom and tried to manage a quick goodbye to make it easier on him and me! He cried a little when we kissed him and said goodbye, but we stood outside the door for a while and never heard him cry again once we walked outside the room.

When we went to pick up up his teacher said he had done very well for his first day. She said he enjoyed the painting project they did this morning. She also said sitting on the rug for circle time was the hardest thing for him! HAHA!! I knew that was going to be hard on him! He was super happy when we picked him up, which made me happy too! We decided to take him out on a special lunch date with Mommy and Daddy to celebrate his first day of school!

I honestly can't believe that my baby boy is almost two and is going to school! He is just growing up way too fast on us!
