Future Lamar Raider!

Football season has officially begun! We couldn't be more excited! Our favorite team, The Lamar Raiders, had their first home game of the season Friday night. We decided to take our future Raider to the game. He LOVED it! He acutally made it through the entire game!

One of our very favorite cheerleaders, Caroline, took a picture with John Turner. We love you, Caroline!

Those sweet and beautiful Lamar cheerleaders gave John Turner a lot of attention during the game. They even threw him a football. He loves this football!

John Turner was very excited that his best friend, Harper, also got to come to the game. She is a future Raider cheerleader of course! They had a blast playing on the ground, listening to the music and the cheering fans, and watching the older kids run around.

By the way, most of the football players, dancers, and cheerleaders are former students of mine. It was so much fun to see all of them and introduce them to John Turner! I was so proud of all of them! The Raiders ended up beating Starkville Academy by a lot! We can't wait for the next game! GO RAIDERS!

Eleven Months

11 months old:
  • No more bottles! YEAH!! (at around 10 1/2 months he decided he didn't need his bottle anymore)
  • Eats pretty much whatever we are eating --We ordered him his first restaurant meal the other day. He ate a grilled cheese sandwich and an applesauce from Mcallister's. He loves being able to eat real food! He has even tried hamburger and chicken strips this week. He is a little obsessed with bananas! He would eat them for every meal if I would let him!
  • He has 8 teeth- 4 on top and 4 on bottom.
  • Sleeps 12-13 hours a night (from about 7:30 or 8:00 until about 8:00 or 8:30)
  • Takes 2 naps a day
  • Loves to be on the go-- He is the best traveler! We take him everywhere we go!
  • Weighs at around 21 pounds and around 30 inches long(we think)-- Wears size 12 month clothing

  • Is cruising but not yet walking independently-Wants you to hold his hands and let him walk ALL DAY! Throws a total fit when you sit him down! He is getting braver and letting go a little more while cruising.
  • Starting to get very upset when Mommy or Daddy leave him--When we drop him off at the church nursery on Sunday mornings he now screams and cries! He has become very clingy with us lately and doesn't really want too many other people holding him. He is going to start a morning program at our church once he turns one so maybe that will help with this.
  • He loves being chased around the house--He thinks it is the best game ever!
  • He is VERY ticklish!!
  • Loves to listen to music and watch Baby Einstein and Praise Baby DVDs
  • Enjoys singing to himself (especially right before he falls asleep)
  • Loves to be read to--Brown Bear, Brown Bear is still his favorite!
  • Loves to go on walks around the neighborhood.

  • Says Momma, Dada, Ah-Ah(Oliver the Cat)
  • Recognizes things when you ask him about them (where's the light?, where's your nose? etc..)
  • Will wave bye-bye and throw his hand up to say hey (when he wants to do it)
  • Will give kisses (when he wants to do it)
  • Still sucks his thumb when he is tired
  • Thinks that bouncing is the greatest thing in the world.
  • Enjoys watching older kids and trying to do what they do
  • Has decided to do this cute little squinty smile(see picture below!)

It is hard to believe that in less than one month we will be celebrating John Turner's first birthday!

A Visit to Meme and Pop's New Cabin

John Turner's Meme and Pop are in the process of building a lake and a little "get-away" cabin. Carlton and I plan to build a cabin for our family here in a few years.
It is just such a beautiful place!

The future lake where John Turner will catch many fish!

Their cute little cabin!

Carlton has built this new shooting house for John Turner to hunt in when he is older. Carlton took him to see it today.

We also got to go riding on the 4-wheeler today. John Turner loved that! He is for sure going to be an outdoor boy like his daddy!

YEE HAW!!

The annual Ralph Morgan Rodeo was held this weekend. This is a major event for the people of Meridian! Everyone comes out for the rodeo! We decided to take John Turner last night. He did pretty well considering it didn't even start until his bedtime. He loved the loud music and kept bouncing up and down to it every time it would play. He didn't like having to sit and be held though! He was dying to get down and go run around with the big kids!

Sitting with Grandpa and showing off his rodeo attire

Go, Horse , Go!

John Turner's best friend, Harper also came with us to the rodeo! Isn't she the cutest thing you have ever seen? John Turner sure thinks so!

Hanging out with Daddy

John Turner wasn't too sure about the horses. He was a little scared of them!

John Turner got to have his picture made with some real cowgirls! These beautiful cowgirls are also former students of mine! Thanks, Sadie and Cynthia!

Laundry Day

Today was laundry day at the Watt house! We have had a busy weekend so I had a lot of laundry to do today. It took me all day to get it done! It sounds like a bad way to spend a day. But....

when you have help that is as cute as this, a day of laundry doesn't seem so bad!

10 Months

John Turner is now 10 months old! It is so hard to believe that in just two months we will be celebrating his 1st birthday! He is just really growing up too fast! 10 months is a very fun age. He is full of energy and on the go all of the time! We are enjoying watching him explore and learn new things. Here are a few shots of his favorite things right now.

The first thing John Turner does when he wakes up each morning is go to the window or the back door and call for Oliver, our cat. He will tap on the glass and say "ah, ah" we assume this stands for Oliver. He loves Oliver and Oliver loves him too!

This is his new horse. Of course he is not able to ride it by himself yet, but he just loves to listen to it make noises and sing.

He likes to work on his car! Maybe a future mechanic?

I have been trying to research and find John Turner some new toys that are for children his age. I felt like he had outgrown most of his toys. As you can see in the pictures below, John Turner has found some things around the house that have become his favorite toys lately. He loves Daddy's belt, Momma's shaving cream top, and Momma' pots, pans, and plastic dishes! He plays with this stuff more than any cool, expensive toy we have bought for him!

One more thing that I am so happy about is that we are almost completely off of the bottle! YEAH!! He only has one bottle a day and that is at night before he goes to bed. He has decided that he will drink his milk from his sippy cup at all other times during the day. I am so happy about this because I am so tired of washing bottles! LOL!! He is also eating a lot of table food these days. He loves to eat toast or pancakes for breakfast. He also loves cut up fruit and just about any vegetable I cook. He also loves ravioli and mac n cheese. He thinks that feeding himself is the greatest thing ever. He is very independent and will push you away if you try to help him!

Carousel

Last weekend we attended Landon's 2nd birthday party at the beautiful carousel located here in Meridian. Landon is one of John Turner's cute little cousins! We weren't sure how John Turner would react to riding the carousel. He LOVED it! It went way faster than Carlton or I expected, but John Turner didn't care one bit! He rode it like a big boy!

This is the beautiful carousel and the birthday boy, Landon, taking a ride!
